I have been a student of healing since early in life. Even as a child I knew that there was something Universal connecting us all and bringing us together. I knew that this would be heart centered and heartfelt. Instead of seeing each other's differences, we would be able to honor and respect our shared humanity.
I began a search of mind-body modalities and either studied, utilized or taught the following during the past 35 years: bioenergetics, hypnosis, massage, relaxation techniques, visualization/sensory imagery, cognitive behavioral, art and healing, the use of music for recovery and drumming. As a foundation in my life I have had a strong meditative practice based on a humanistic life philosophy. As a Clinical Social Worker, I have had the joy and opportunity to touch many individuals' lives that have been touched by Cancer and other life transforming illnesses and experiences. Just as I have been their teacher, coach, and support person, they have been gracious enough to be my teacher regarding coping with loss, physical and emotional challenges, and life altering events.
Besides working as a clinician with individuals, couples and families, I have been facilitating support groups and educational support programs for 30 years. For 2006, I was awarded a grant from the Southern Arizona Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to teach Reiki to minority women with breast cancer as a modality for stress reduction and relaxation. This is a richness that I bring to Desert Reiki Connection and to your particular Reiki training. For 2007, I was awarded a Komen grant to teach Reiki to families of women with Breast Cancer to enhance communication and intimacy. I also facilitate a monthly group in the hospital for Cancer survivors and family members who are Reiki trained. This work has contributed to my receiving the 2007 award from NASW Arizona for Social Worker of the Year.
I also bring a love of Reiki and deep gratitude to how Reiki and my Reiki Master Teacher, Ms. Mega R Mease, Advanced Center for Energy Therapeutics and founder of the Reiki Information Line, have touched and impacted every aspect of my life. I look forward to the opportunity to share my story with you in the hope that it will encourage you to write your own miraculous life script.
